ABOUT ME

Welcome to My Practice
Grief is universal, but how we deal with our grief is not. What feels helpful to one, may not feel useful to another and leave someone feeling confused and alone. Meeting with a clinically trained grief and trauma professional provides the stability often needed to begin to heal. Grief is personal and so is choosing a professional who can offer guidance and support when navigating this transformative journey and restoring well-being.
About My Experience
I have been working as an art therapist in the Northern Virginia/DC Metro area since 1997 and because of this work believe in the power of art to heal and transform when words are not enough. Using art therapy techniques and interventions alongside traditional talk therapy can enhance stress relief, positive coping, and self awareness when it comes to healing. I have offered creative arts therapy and counseling in a variety of settings and with all ages, which have included medical and hospice settings, therapeutic school settings, and in-home work.
In addition to my private practice I volunteer with the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS). TAPS is the national nonprofit organization providing compassionate care and comprehensive resources to all those grieving a death in the military or veteran community. I provide grief and loss support through presentations and open art studio opportunities during the Annual National Military Survivor Seminar and the National Military Suicide Survivor Seminar, held once a year.
Like grieving, grief support is also personal and can look different for each person. I am certified in Grief and Trauma Psychotherapy through the Wendt Center for Loss and Healing in Washington, DC and have additional training working with those who have lost a loved one due to suicide. I also greatly enjoy working with teens and have a special place in my heart for this age group. I offer grief support in the form of psychoeducation, individual counseling, family counseling, and through various groups and workshop experiences. I work with all ages--children, teens, and adults experiencing grief and loss. An individual consultation will help us guide our work together and provide an initial individualized plan that fits your unique experience.
I believe in giving back to my profession through supervising and training art therapy graduate students and new professionals. I am full-time faculty at The George Washington University Graduate Art Therapy Program and an Art Therapy Certified Supervisor through the Art Therapy Credentials Board. I currently provide on-campus, off-site, and individual supervision for art therapy graduate students and those seeking the ATR. I also teach courses from time to time and have taught Adolescent Art Therapy and I am currently teaching Assessment Procedures in Art Therapy. I bring knowledge, experience, sensitivity, and creativity to support the growth of the art therapy trainee or professional.
About Me
I enjoy being with family and friends, outdoor live music, and opportunities for creative expression through a variety of materials. I believe that these connections and outlets allow me to better join individuals on their healing journey.
Healing After Loss

Keeping Connections
Because grief can encompass a range of feelings and complexities, it sometimes leaves one feeling isolated. The grieving process is different for everyone and sometimes having a guiding hand is needed.

Making Meaning
Grief support can also look different for each individual. I offer grief support in the form of individual counseling, family counseling, and through various group experiences.

Tools for Healing
An individual consult will help us guide our work together and come up with an individualized plan that fits your unique experience.
